We informed you earlier that Mahindra is working on increasing its production capacity to reduce waiting period on its new breed of SUVs including the XUV700 and the Scorpio-N. Both SUVs were commanding waiting period of over 1 year, depending on variant and City. A new media report claims that the waiting period of the Mahindra XUV700 and the Scorpio-N are now dropped by 3-4 months.
Mahindra XUV700 Waiting Period
The entry-level MX and AX3 petrol and diesel variants of the XUV700 commands a waiting period of up to 4 months. The AX5 trim has a variant of up to 6 months, while the AX7 trim holds a waiting period of up to 8 months. The top-spec AX7L trim comes with a waiting period of up to 9 months.
The report claims that the waiting period of the top-spec AX7L trim has been reduced by up to 6 months compared to last November. However, the waiting period for the entry-level MX and AX3 petrol variants has gone up by around 2 months while the diesel version’s waiting time has been reduced by about six months.
Mahindra aims to produce around 10,000 units of the XUV700 per month by March 2024. The company is currently producing about 6,000 units of the 3-row SUV. The SUV is available with two engine options – a 2.0L turbo petrol and a 2.2L turbo diesel. While the former is good for 200bhp & 380Nm, the latter comes in two states of tune – 155bhp/360Nm and 185bhp/420Nm (450Nm with the AT). Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
Mahindra Scorpio N Waiting Period
The Scorpio N’s Z2 petrol and diesel variants command a waiting period of around 6-7 months and 7-8 months respectively. While the Z4 and Z6 trims are available with a waiting period of up to 12 months. The Z8L AT petrol has a waiting period of up to 3 months, while the X8L AT diesel commands a waiting period of up to 8 months. The top-selling Z8 trim commands a waiting period of up to 13 months.
The high-end Z8L MT petrol and diesel are available for bookings with a waiting time of up to 7.8 months and 10-12 months respectively. The company manages to reduce waiting period of most of the variants by up to 3-4 months. In November, the SUV’s top-selling Z8 trim had a waiting period of around 22-25 months.
The new Scorpio-N is available with two engine options – a 203bhp, 2.0L Turbo petrol and a 175bhp, 2.2L turbo diesel. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
