Maruti Brezza – No Mild Hybrid Manual, Features Rejigged

Maruti Suzuki Brezza, the top-selling SUV from the Indo-Japanese automaker, has received a few noticeable tech and feature changes. The subcompact SUV is now available with seat-belt reminders for all passengers. Earlier, it was limited to the front seats. However, the Brezza CNG loses the hill hold assist and electronic stability program. Read: Maruti eVX Electric SUV On Its Way to Become A Reality

Furthermore, the carmaker has removed the mild hybrid tech from the 1.5L petrol manual variants, which also reduced its fuel efficiency by up to 2.77kmpl. Now, the Maruti Brezza manual version offers a claimed mileage of 17.38kmpl. The Brezza automatic continues to deliver a fuel efficiency of 20.15kmpl. The compact SUV’s CNG version is available with the same 1.5L petrol motor with the factory-fitted CNG kit. The setup produces a peak power of 87.8bhp and 121.5Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.

One must note that no changes have been made to its prices even after losing some features. The Maruti Brezza is available within the price range of Rs 8.29 lakh – Rs 13.98 lakh. The petrol variants are priced from Rs 8.29 lakh to Rs 14.14 lakh, while the CNG models cost between Rs 9.24 lakh – Rs 12.15 lakh. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.

With an aim to further strengthen its UV market, Maruti Suzuki introduced three new models this year – the Fronx compact crossover, 5-door Jimny, and Invicto premium strong hybrid MPV. The Maruti Fronx is the direct rival of the Tata Punch and the newly-launched Hyundai Exter.

The Invicto is essentially the first re-badged Toyota from the Indo-Japanese carmaker in India. The premium MPV is based on the Innova Hycross and comes in three variants – Zeta+ 7-seater, Zeta+ 8-seater, and Alpha 7-seater – priced at Rs 24.79 lakh, Rs 24.84 lakh, and Rs 28.42 lakh, respectively. The 5-door Jimny, which has some serious off-road capabilities, has been positioned as a lifestyle off-roader that will take on the upcoming 5-door Thar.
