Maruti eVX On Its Way to Become A Reality – Retain Key Features

Maruti Suzuki’s first electric car is slated to arrive in the second half of 2024. The electric SUV is based on the eVX concept, which was unveiled at this year’s Auto Expo. Spy images of the prototype covered in thick black camouflage have emerged, taken during testing in hot climate conditions in Southern Europe. While the overall silhouette of the prototype appears similar to the concept, some changes are expected to be made to ensure road legality. Read – Maruti Fronx CNG With 6 Airbags Coming Soon?

The eVX concept showcases Maruti Suzuki’s new design language, featuring a blanked-off grille, V-shaped headlamps, LED DRLs, and a squarish hood. The futuristic aesthetic is further enhanced by pronounced wheel arches, a sloping roofline that merges with the raked rear windscreen and tailgate, and rugged cladding running along the side profile. While the concept displayed low-profile tires, the production version is likely to feature more conventional units.

The electric SUV boasts high ground clearance and short overhangs. As per initial details, the production-ready eVX will measure around 4,300 mm in length, 1,800mm in width and 1,600mm in height.

Maruti Suzuki has already announced that the eVX SUV (in its concept form) is equipped with a 60kWh battery pack, providing an estimated range of around 550km. The production-ready version is expected to retain a similar capacity battery, offering a real-world range of around 500km.

Entry-level variants may come with a smaller capacity battery of approximately 48kWh, delivering a range of around 400km. It is worth noting that Suzuki Motor Corporation has announced a plan to invest Rs 100 billion in India for the production of batteries for future electric vehicles.

The Maruti eVX will mark the brand’s debut in the electric SUV segment in India. Once launched, it will compete against the Tata Curvv and Hyundai Creta EV, both of which are currently undergoing testing with heavy camouflage.
