Mahindra & Mahindra has planned as many as 12 new models for the Indian market, which are scheduled to arrive over the next five years. All these will be SUVs and most of them will come in the price range of Rs 10 lakh – Rs 20 lakh. It will start with the launch of the brand’s new flagship premium SUV – the Mahindra XUV700. The new three-row SUV is likely to debut on 15th August, followed by its launch. The XUV700 could also be the first production model to feature the brand’s new logo.
According to a fresh media report, Mahindra’s new logo will be a part of its new corporate identity that said to be in-line with the changing market equations of connected and clean vehicles. It’s likely to be squarish emblem featuring the brand’s initial ‘M’. The home-grown carmaker aims to deliver “true-blue, no-nonsense SUVs that are true to the character”.
The upcoming Mahindra XUV700 will be the spiritual successor of the existing XUV500. The three-row SUV will be offered the segment’s most powerful petrol and diesel engines along with several class-leading features. The carmaker has already confirmed that the new 7-seater SUV will offer the Auto Booster headlamps, panoramic skyroof (1360mm in length and 870mm in width), smart door handles, personalized safety alerts and drowsiness detection safety feature. It’s likely to be the first car in its segment to offer ADAS (advanced driver assistance system).
As mentioned above, the Mahindra XUV700 will be the most powerful SUV in its segment. Its petrol model will use a new 2.0L turbo mStallion motor making a maximum power of 200bhp. The diesel version will be packed with a 2.2L mHawk turbo unit pushing out power close to 185bhp. The new Mahindra 7-seater SUV will be offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearboxes. The latter one will be sourced from Aisin.
