Mahindra XUV700 Vs Tata Safari – Engine Specs In 6 Quick Points

Mahindra & Mahindra has planned several new SUVs for the Indian market. This year, the home-grown maker will bring in the XUV700 7-seater and the second-generation Scorpio. While the former is likely to arrive during 2021 festive season, the latter one might hit showrooms by the end of this year. In the premium 7-seater SUV space, the upcoming Mahindra XUV700 will face challenge from cars like MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar. Here’s a brief engine specification based comparison between Mahindra’s XUV700 and Tata’ Safari.

– Based on the Omega Arc platform, the Tata Safari comes powered by a 2.0L Kryotec turbocharged diesel engine. It’s the same motor that does duty in the Harrier. The motor returns a claimed power of 170bhp and 350Nm of torque.

– The upcoming Mahindra XUV700 SUV is reported to be offered with both petrol and diesel engines. Its petrol variants will employ a new 2.0L, 4-cylinder mFlacon turbocharged motor under the hood. The gasoline unit will offer power close to 190bhp. The SUV’s diesel model will be packed with the new 2.2L, 4-cylinder mHawk oil burner generating a peak power of 185bhp.

– The Tata Safari is being offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox options. Similar to its arch rival, the new Mahindra three-row SUV will be available with the 6-speed manual and 6-speed Aisin-sourced torque convertor automatic gearbox options.

Tata’s 7-seater SUV promises fuel efficiency of 16.14kmpl with manual gearbox and 14.08kmpl with automatic transmission. Mileage details of the Mahindra XUV700 are yet to be revealed by the carmaker.

– At present, the Safari comes in the price range of Rs 14.99 lakh – Rs 21.81 lakh (all, ex-showroom). Prices of the upcoming Mahindra 7-seater SUV will more or less similar to its rivals. Its official prices will be announced in coming months.
