Volkswagen Taigun Clear Images Reveal Interesting Details

The prototype of the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun was recently spotted testing without any camouflage in the country. The mid-size SUV carries the signature grille with chrome bars running across it, LED matrix headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, angular bonnet and sporty bumper at the front end. The front and scuff plates, a blacked-out roof with silver finished roof rails, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, chrome finished window line, body cladding all around the body, LED taillamps and a roof mounted spoiler add more to its sporty appeal. The SUV’s top-end GT variant will have ‘GT’ badges on the front and rear end.

The Volkswagen Taigun will be among the well-equipped cars in its segment. Inside, it will get a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity along with the connected car technology. The SUV will have the brand’s virtual cockpit design with a TFT digital instrument cluster.

Reports suggest that the carmaker might equip the Taigun with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) that includes adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection systems, lane keep assist, collision warning systems, parking assistance and more.

Under the hood, the upcoming Volkswagen compact SUV will feature the 1.0L TSI (for the lower-spec variants) and 1.5L TSI petrol engines. A 6-speed manual gearbox will be standard across the SUV model lineup. The 1.0L gasoline unit will be exclusively offered with a 6-speed torque converter automatic and the 1.5L will also be available with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

Unofficial bookings of the Volkswagen Taigun have already been commenced in India at a token amount of Rs 10,000. Its launch will happen in coming months (possibly in August 2021). Here, it will take on the cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the upcoming Skoda Kushaq.
