Mahindra XUV700 Petrol 200hp, Diesel 185hp; Most Powerful In Segment

Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to launch the all-new XUV700 7-seater SUV in coming months. Ahead of its official arrival, the carmaker has dropped a couple of teaser video revealing some of its segment-leading features. Now, the engine details of the model have been surfaced on the web. According to a fresh media report, Mahindra XUV700 will come with the most powerful petrol and diesel engine of its segment.

The petrol version will be packed with the new 2.0L, turbocharged mStallion motor that will generate power worth 200bhp. The same engine does duty in the Thar, where it delivers 150bhp. The SUV’s diesel model will derive power from a 2.2L mHawk turbo unit making power around 185bhp. In the premium 7-seater SUV space, the Mahindra XUV700 will take directly on the newly-launched Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari.

Hyundai’s Alcazar has been offered with the 159bhp, 2.0L naturally aspirated petrol and 115bhp, 1.5L diesel engines. While the MG Hector Plus is powered by a 143bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol unit, the Tata Safari uses a 170bhp, 2.0L diesel motor. The upcoming Mahindra XUV700 can be had with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission sourced from Aisin.

The carmaker has already confirmed that the XUV700 will offer the segment’s largest sunroof (1360mmX870mm), called Skyroof. It will also be equipped with the ‘Auto Booster headlamps’ offering better visibility and safety. The new Mahindra 7-seater is also expected to be the first car in its segment to feature ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), dual-screen setup (like Mercedes-Benz) for infotainment system and instrument cluster.

The production-ready model is likely to debut by mid July 2021. Its bookings might start in August and launch will happen just before the festive season (possibly in October 2021).
