Mahindra XUV300 Sportz With 131bhp, 1.2L Petrol Engine Launch Soon

Mahindra had showcased the XUV300 Sportz edition at the 2020 Auto Expo. The new variant was equipped with a sportier turbo petrol engine, which was earlier planned to be launched in April 2020. The launch was delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic. A new media report claims that Mahindra is now ready to launch the new variant in the country.

The report claims that Mahindra has received the green light from ICAT (International Centre for Automotive Technology), Manesar for the XUV300 Sportz variant. The new Mahindra XUV300 Sportz variant will be powered by a 1.2-litre direct injection 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 131bhp and 230Nm of torque. This engine is about 21bhp and 30Nm more than the standard petrol XUV300. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.

It is reported that the new XUV300 Sportz variant will receive a mild-hybrid start-stop system to reduce CO2 emissions. This will help the new model to meet CAFE emission norms. The mild hybrid system will also improve the overall fuel efficiency of the SUV.

The new XUV300 Sportz is expected to be offered in 3 variants – W6, W8 and W8(O). The new model will share features with the top-spec variants of the existing XUV300. In terms of features, the new model will come with 17-inch alloys, a factory-fitted sunroof, automatic headlamps & wipers, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), disc brakes, automatic AC & cruise control.

The Sportz variant showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo was equipped with body decals and red front calipers. It has blacked out interiors with contrasting red stitching.

Mahindra XUV300 Facelift Launch

The homegrown UV maker has officially announced to launch the new XUV300 facelift will be launched before the end of this financial year. Adding to it, Mahindra will also launch the electric version of the XUV300, rumoured to be called the XUV400, will be launched in the first quarter of 2022.
