Volkswagen Virtus – 6 Variants, 2 Turbo Petrol Engines, Expected Prices

Volkswagen Virtus mid-size sedan, the Vento’s replacement in India, is ready to hit roads on 9th June 2022. Ahead of its official launch, the carmaker has revealed that the model lineup will be offered in 6 variants – Comfortline MT (1.0L), Highline MT (1.0L), Highline AT (1.0L), Topline MT (1.0L), Topline AT (1.0L) and GT DCT (1.5L turbo petrol only). The sedan will be made available with the 1.0L turbo and 1.5L turbo petrol engines making 115PS with 178Nm and 150PS with 250Nm respectively.

The 1.0L petrol motor can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 1.5L turbo petrol unit will come with a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission only. One must note that the same engine-gearbox combinations are offered on the Skoda Slavia. The new Volkswagen Virtus will be available in 6 exterior colour schemes – Reflex Silver, Candy White, Wild Cherry Red, Curcuma Yellow, Rising Blue Metallic and Carbon Steel Gery.

The new Volkswagen sedan underpins the MQB A0-IN platform and measures 4561mm in length, 1752mm in width and 1507mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2651mm and offers a boot space of 521-litres. The range-topping GT trim gets some sporty design elements such as red detailing on the dashboard, seats with red stitching and aluminium pedals.

Volkswagen has equipped its new Virtus sedan with lots of goodies including an 8-speaker audio system, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, auto climate control, connected car tech, cooled glovebox, ambient lighting, a sunroof, hill hold control, auto headlamps and wipers, five adjustable headrests, a tyre pressure monitoring system, 6 airbags and electronic stability control.

Official bookings are open for the new Volkswagen sedan. It will compete against the Skoda Slavia (its cousin), Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City. Prices of the Virtus are expected to start from Rs 9 lakh and go up to Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
