Mahindra XUV e9 Electric Coupe SUV – Launch Timeline & Details

Mahindra is gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited XUV400 electric SUV on September 8, 2022. The company has also revealed 5 new electric SUVs under its two sub-brands – XUV.e and BE. While the XUV400 is based on the ICE-powered XUV300’s X100 platform, the new Mahindra XUV and BE electric SUVs will be based on Mahindra’s new INGLO skateboard platform.

The Mahindra XUV.e sub-brand will have two models – XUV.e8 and XUV.e9, while the BE sub-brand will have 3 models – BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09. These SUVs will be based on Born Electric platform and will share battery module with different outputs and range. The homegrown automaker will first launch the XUV electric range.

Mahindra XUV e9 Rear

Mahindra has officially announced that the first Mahindra Born electric model to enter the production line will be the XUV.e8. It is scheduled to be launched in December 2024. The overall silhouette of the SUV looks identical to the XUV700. It measures 4,740mm in length, 1900mm in width and 1760mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2762mm. It is around 45mm longer, 10mm wider and 5mm taller than the XUV700, while the wheelbase is raised by 7mm.

Mahindra XUV e9 Electric

It is essentially the SUV Coupe version of the XUV.e8. Scheduled to be launched by April 2025, the new model will be based on the INGLO skateboard architecture. This platform will share similarities and components with Volkswagen’s MEB platform. This electric SUV Coupe measures  4,790mm in length, 1,905mm in width and 1,690mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,775. Compared to the XUV e8, the new Mahindra XUV e9 electric SUV Coupe is 50mm longer, 5mm wider and has 13mm longer wheelbase; however, the height has been reduced by 70mm.

Unlike XUV700 electric, the Mahindra XUV900 or XUV e9 will be a 5-seater model with design inspiration comes from the XUV Aero concept. The SUV Coupe shares LED lighting elements, bumper-mounted headlamps and closed off front grille from the XUV.e8. It has a coupe-like design at the rear along with a flat tail section. The coupe EV has prominent gloss-black cladding all-around the body. It is likely to share the battery pack and electric motors with the electric XUV.e8.
