Mahindra XUV.e8 & XUV.e9 Electric SUVs Unveiled – Launch Details

The homegrown SUV maker, Mahindra & Mahindra has officially revealed 5 new electric SUVs namely – XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09. While XUV EVs will arrive first in our market from 2024 onwards, the BE range will first go on sale in 2025. All 5 electric SUVs will share the platform and battery module; however, all will have different in terms of outputs.

The first Mahindra Born electric model to enter production line will be the XUV.e8. It is scheduled to be launched in the country in December 2024. The new Mahindra XUV.e8 is based on the INGLO platform that’s Born Electric Platform. However, it has basic layout and silhouette and three rows of seats similar to the Mahindra XUV700.

Mahindra has made certain changes to make it look significantly different from the XUV700. It comes with an EV like front fascia, featuring a full-width LED light bars and closed-off front grille. The front has bumper-mounted headlamps, and sculpted bonnet. The rear looks largely identical to the XUV700; however, it has new bumper design. 

In terms of proportions, the new Mahindra XUV.e8 is 4,740mm long, 1,900mm wide and 1,760mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,762mm. It is around 45mm longer, 10mm wider and 5mm taller than the XUV700, while the wheelbase is raised by 7mm. The new XUV.e8 electric SUV will feature an all-wheel drive system and an 80kWh battery pack. It is claimed to offer a power output in the range of 230hp to 350hp.

The new XUV.e9 electric SUV will be launched by April 2025. It is a brand new electric model, which comes with a coupe-like design. Dimensionally, the Mahindra XUV.e9 electric SUV will be 4,790mm in length, 1,905mm win width and 1,690mm in height. It will be a 5-seater model and will ride on a 2,775mm long wheelbase.

The design inspiration for the new XUV.e9 comes from the XUV Aero concept. It shares the LED lighting elements, bumper-mounted headlamps and closed-off front grille from the XUV.e8. It has a coupe-like design at the rear along with a flat tail section. The coupe EV has prominent gloss-black cladding all-around the body. It is likely to share the battery pack and electric motors with the electric XUV.e8.
