German luxury carmaker, Volkswagen is preparing the next gen Tiguan SUV that has been spotted testing in foreign soil. A new set of spy images reveal the new gen Volkswagen Tiguan with production body panels. The spotted model looks larger than the current model, which suggests that this could be the long-wheelbase Allspace version. It is early to comment whether VW will continue to offer the Tiguan in two versions or the German brand will introduce the SUV in a single version.
The overall silhouette seems largely identical; however, it has new design elements. The new model looks more sophisticated with clear lines and aggressive creases. The crossover has creases on the fenders and doors. Adding to it, the door handles are placed lower than before. There are quad tips on the lower bumper are just decoys; however, there is an exhaust muffler is placed underneath the bumper to accommodate original exhaust.
Volkswagen had announced to launch the next gen Tiguan with combustion engines. It is expected that this will be last model before switching to electric power. The front fascia of the prototype has a wider air intake and white strips on the upper grille that mimic the current model’s horizontal bars.
The new gen Volkswagen Tiguan will also receive significant changes inside the cabin. The spotted model has a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system. In the existing model, the touch display is integrated into the center console. It also gets a new digital instrument cluster, which is likely to be shared with the VW ID.4. Thanks to the bigger touch unit, the new Tiguan cabin is expected to offer a simplified layout with minimal physical buttons.
Volkswagen has announced that it won’t end sales of ICE powered cars in Europe until 2033-2035. The new model is expected to be offered with petrol and diesel engines. The company could also introduce the plug-in hybrid version to lower fleet emissions and to meet the upcoming Euro 7 emission norms. The new gen VW Tiguan is expected to be unveiled sometime next year, while launch expected in 2024.
