2 Tata CNG Cars Launch Timeline Revealed – Baleno CNG Rival

Tata Motors showcased the Altroz CNG and Punch CNG models at this year’s Auto Expo. Now, the company has confirmed that both CNG cars will go on sale in the first half of next fiscal year (2023-24). Power setup of the models includes a 1.2L petrol engine and a factory-fitted CNG kit delivering 77PS and 97Nm. Transmission duties will be done by a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The CNG versions could be reserved for the mid-spec and higher trims, and expected to cost around 1 lakh premium over their regular petrol counterparts. At present, the Altroz hatchback is available within the price range of Rs 6.35 lakh – Rs 10.25 lakh and the Punch costs between Rs 6 lakh – Rs 9.54 lakh. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.

Tata Altroz CNG Launch

Unlike the other CNG cars, the Tata Altroz CNG and Punch CNG have a twin-cylinder tank setup with capacity of 60-litre (30-litre for each cylinder). The layout doesn’t eat up much of its boot space. The regular Altroz and Punch come with a luggage capacity of 345-litres and 366-litres respectively. The carmaker says that it has used the first-in-segment leakage detection technology for CNG cylinders that ensures a switch to petrol in case of a gas leak. The new Tata CNG cars are equipped with a Single Advanced ECU (engine control unit) and Direct State CNG. Read – Tata Altroz Racer With Sunroof, Nexon’s Engine, Bigger touchscreen
