Mahindra & Mahindra’s four highly popular SUVs, namely, Thar, Scorpio, Bolero and XUV300 received around 59,000 bookings in the first quarter of FY2022 (i.e. April – June 2021). The carmaker received over 39,000 bookings for the new Thar, over 10,000 for XUV3300, over 6,000 for Scorpio and over 4,000 for the Bolero. In the same time period, the Mahindra Bolero pickup gathered 30,000 bookings. The cumulative bookings for all five models stand around 90,000.
Due to the global shortage of semiconductors, however, the Mahindra SUVs command long waiting periods. While the new Thar currently has a waiting period of 10 months, the XUV300 and Scorpio are observing waiting period of 2 months and 45 days respectively. The carmaker introduced the new Mahindra Bolero Neo that managed to clock over 5,500 bookings within three weeks of its arrival. Recently, Mahindra announced an impressive YoY (Year-on-Year) revenue growth of 110% in Q1, FY2022.
In other updates, the home-grown carmaker is ready to unveil the much-awaited Mahindra XUV700 on August 15, 2021. Its launch is likely to happen in late September or early October. The XUV700 will be the most powerful and expensive SUV from Mahindra in the country. In fact, it will be the more powerful than the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus. It will be the brand’s first production model to feature Mahindra’s new logo. Prices of the SUV are likely to start from Rs 13.00 lakh onwards.
After the XUV700, the automaker will bring in the new-generation Scorpio that’s slated to hit roads in early 2022. The SUV will sit on the modified ladder frame chassis and witness comprehensive changes inside and out. Engine setup will also be new. The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will come with the new 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L mHawk diesel engines and 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options.
