New MG Hector Shine Mid-Variant Launch On August 12, 2021

After introducing the Gloster Savvy 7-seater variant, MG Motors has now officially announced the launch of the new Hector Shine variant. This mid-level variant is scheduled to be launched on August 12, 2021. It will be introduced to counter the rising competition from the likes of the Tata Harrier and the soon-to-be-launched Mahindra XUV700.

The MG Hector is currently available in 4 trim levels – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. The new Shine trim is expected to be positioned between the Super and Smart trims. The new model will offer more features than the Super variant. In fact, the Hector Shine has already been spotted testing.

MG Hector Shine Launch Invite

The new MG Hector Shine variant will come with a single pane sunroof, unlike the panoramic sunroof that is available on higher variants. The vehicle is also expected to be equipped with a 360 degree camera. Official details will be revealed on August 12; however, it is likely to be packed with features like a 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, LED tail-lamps and LED rear fog lamps.

The new trim is most likely to be offered in diesel version only. The diesel Hector is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that produces 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a 6-sped manual gearbox. Other engine options include a 143bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid tech. The regular petrol engine is available with a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

MG Astor India Launch

MG Motors will also launch a new mid-sized SUV based on the ZS EV in the country this year. The company has confirmed that the new mid-sized SUV will get Jio-powered Internet features. Rumoured to be called the MG Astor, the new SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and the soon-to-be-launched VW Taigun. It will be offered in petrol version only.
