Mahindra & Mahindra has introduced Apple CarPlay and Android Auto upgrades on its highly popular SUV – Scorpio. The new smartphonne connectivity features are reserved for the higher S9 and S11 trims. These features have been added without any additional cost. The connectivity upgrade ensures safer and more convenient driving experience by enabling the driver to access his/her smartphone via the steering mounted controls. No other changes have been made to the vehicle. The carmaker rolled out the BS6-compliant version of the Mahindra Scorpio SUV earlier this year at a starting price of Rs 11.98 lakh. At present, the model lineup comes in four trims – S5, S7, S9 and S11 – and four colour options – Napoli Black, Pearl White, Dsat Silver and Molten Red. The entry-level S5 variant is available at Rs 12.42 lakh and the S7 model costs Rs 14.48 lakh. While the S9 variant has been priced at Rs 15.11 lakh, the fully-loaded S11 comes with a price tag of Rs 16.27 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Mumbai.
The Mahindra Scorpio sources its power from a 2.2L, 4-cylinder mHawk diesel engine that comply with BS6 emission standards. The turbocharged motor makes a top power of 140bhp at 3750rpm and a peak torque of 320Nm between 1500rpm – 2800rpm. Transmission duties are performed by a new 6-speed manual gearbox. The Scorpio’s top-end S11 variant comes with features such as projector headlamps, chrome finishes grille inserts, 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic wiper and headlamps, voice assist system, GPS navigation in 10 lanugages, faux-leather upholstery on steering and gear lever, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, fully automatic climate control, cruise control, reverse parking camera with dynamic guidelines and tyre pressure monitoring system. The Scorpio comes with 7-seat configuration with side-facing last row, 8-seat with front-facing last row and 7-seat with captain seats.
