Volkswagen India has launched the limited edition of the Vento sedan, christened as ‘Konekt’, in the Indian car market. This could be the move to improve the Vento’s sales in the highly competitive mid-sized sedan segment. It is available in both Comfortline and Highline trims, and is equipped with new entertainment and connectivity features. Interestingly, the company hasn’t made any changes to the pricing and all the variants retain prices of the existing Comfortline and Highline variants. Volkswagen is also planning to launch the 2014 Vento facelift in India by the festive season.
The Vento Konekt is equipped with Igo-Navtech maps for navigation, a 7-inch TFT touchscreen colour display and USB and iPod/iPhone compatibility. For connectivity, this limited edition model has Blaupunkt infotainment system with GPS navigation and hands-free, 3G Internet connectivity and Bluetooth telephony.
For the rear occupants’ entertainment, the sedan gets Android-powered Bluetooth-enabled 8-inch Blaupunkt tablet with 3G-compatibility, twin-SIM and Wi-Fi functionality. Moreover, there are additional equipments like 16 channels of live television, weather updates, Internet radio, tablet with live stock market feeds, etc. It also gets social media applications such as Facebook, Twitter, and Video calling facility with a 3G data connection, Google Maps for navigation and others. Adding to it, there are leatherette seat covers, scuff plates and ‘Konekt’ badging on the boot to distinguish it from standard models.
