It’s an open secret that Kia Motors is working on a subcompact SUV (codenamed Kia QYi) for the Indian market. It will be the third model from the Korean carmaker in the country, following the Carnival MPV that’s due for January, 2020. The Kia Sonet (Kia QYi) will have compact dimensions with modern styling that will appeal its target buyers. Upfront, the compact SUV will feature conventional headlamp units, the signature tiger nose grille and bumper with integrated ice-cube styled fog lamps. The LED lights could be reserved for the top-spec trim. Similar to the Hyundai Venue, the Sonet might come with 16-inch wheels and 215/60 R16 Apollo tyres. The subcompact SUV might come with 4 engine options including a 83PS, 1.2L MPI naturally-aspirated, 4-cylinder petrol, a 120PS, 1.0L T-GDI turbocharged, 3-cylinder petrol, a 123PS, 1.6L MPI naturally-aspirated, 4-cylinder petrol and a 90PS, 1.4L CRDi turbo diesel. 5. Expected Launch and Price
In the sub-4 metre SUV space, the Kia Sonet (Kia QYi) will take head-to-head against Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and Ford Ecoport. The carmaker might showcase the vehicle at the 2020 Auto Expo and its launch will happen in the second half of 2020.
