Kia Sonet Gets 50,000 Bookings In Just 2 Months

Kia Motors India marked its entry in the subcompact SUV with the all-new Sonet that was launched in the third week of September, 2020. Within 12 days of its arrival, the Kia Sonet registered total sales of over 9,200 and became the top-selling vehicle in its segment.

Now, the carmaker has announced that the Sonet gets 50,000 bookings in just two months of its launch. The compact SUV has been favoured for its sporty design, segment-first features, new technologies and multiple engine-gearbox options.

The Sonet model lineup comes in two formats Tech Line and GT Line and 6 trims. While the Tech Line includes HTE, HTK, HTK+ HTX and HTX+, the GT Line has a single, fully-loaded GTX+ trim. The latter one has sporty red accents on the exterior and contrast red stitching inside the cabin. Engine setup of Kia Sonet includes two petrol units and a diesel motor. The petrol variants get a 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated engine pushing out a peak power of 83hp and 115Nm of torque. It comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and is limited to the lower trim levels. The other petrol motor is a 1.0-litre, turbocharged unit that has been tuned for generating power worth 120hp and 175Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.

Talking about the diesel engine, the model comes with a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged engine. When paired to the 6-speed manual gearbox, it delivers a claimed power of 100hp and 240Nm. With the 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox, the oil burner returns 115hp and 250Nm. At present, the Kia Sonet is the only car in its category to offer diesel-torque converter gearbox combination.
