Hyundai has finally revealed its latest performance car -the new 2021 Hyundai i20 N. This racetrack capable hot hatch is claimed to be inspired by i20 WRC rally car. Set to offer fun-to-drive characteristics, the new i20 N will join the i30 N and i30 N Fastback N in the Hyundai’s performance line-up.
The 2021 Hyundai i20 N hot hatch is powered by a 1.6-litre T-GDi turbocharged petrol engine paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. It is capable of producing a 201bhp of Power between 5,500 and 6,000rpm and 275Nm of torque at 1,750 to 4,500rpm. It weighs 1,190kgs, which results into one of the best power-to-weight ratio. The i20 N is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 6.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 230kmph.
The 2021 Hyundai i20 N’s engine features an exclusive Turbo system which is cooled by an intercooler and the water circulation of the engine. A 350-bar high-pressure injection rail provides for fuel atomization, a faster engine response as well as a more efficient mixture preparation. The 1.6L T-GDi engine also utilises continuously variable valve duration (CVVD) to further optimise fuel efficiency.
The hot hatch gets N Grin Control System that offers 5 drive modes – Normal, Eco, Sport , N and N Custom. The drive modes adjust the parameters of the engine, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), steering and exhaust sound in order to optimise them for variety of driving conditions. The hot hatch also gets high-performance driving features like Rev Matching and Launch Control. With launch control, the engine and traction control optimises for quick acceleration. It comes with various motorsport inspired features like electric sound generator, variable muffler control for the perfect exhaust sound, as well as left-foot braking calibration and a brake pad wear indicator. The 2021 Hyundai i20 N comes with dedicated 215/40 R18 Pirelli P Zero ultra high-performance tyres with HN mark.

The new i20 N comes equipped with a 10.25-inch LCD touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, N-Content, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technologies.
In terms of styling, the new i20 N gets a sportier bumper with a large air-intake, a wide radiator grille with N badge, a lip spoiler in red below the grille, and LED headlamps. The hot hatch has uniquely styled side sills in red, WRC-inspired roof spoiler, built-in diffuser like element on rear bumper, and triangular fog lamps. The hatch rides on bespoke 18-inch alloy wheels with a grey matte finish and N-branded brake callipers.
Inside the cabin, the hot hatch gets N-performance inspired features like dedicated sports seats with integrated adjustable headrests, N steering wheel, N gear knob and Sporty N metal pedals. It has all-black interior with Blue accents and all-black head lining. The digital console features variable LED red zone, which varies according to engine oil temperature, and shift-timing indicator, which shows the driver the best time to switch gears.
