Kia Seltos, Sonet With Standard 6 Airbags Coming Soon

Kia India recently entered into the compact MPV space with the all-new Carens that’s priced from Rs 8.99 lakh to Rs 16.99 lakh (all ex-showroom). Now, the company is planning to update the Seltos and Sonet SUV model lineup with new features. A latest media report states that the South Korean automaker will introduce six airbags as standard safety fitments on both models. With this update, the 2022 Kia Seltos and Sonet will become India’s first vehicles to comply with the government’s plan to make six airbags standard in all cars with up to 8-seats.

Both SUVs will also be offered with a new blue exterior colour scheme option. It will be the same Imperial Blue shade that’s available on the newly-launched Kia Carens 6/7-seater MPV. Furthermore, the 2022 Kia Seltos will receive iMT gearbox with diesel engine in the mid-level HTK Plus trim. At present, it’s available only with the turbo petrol engine. No design changes and feature upgrades are likely to be made to both SUVs.

2021 Kia Sonet Launch

In other updates, the South Korean automaker has started working on the Kia Seltos facelift that was recently caught testing in Scandinavia. The updated model is likely to feature a new grille, slightly tweaked headlamps, updated front and rear bumpers and new taillamps. While interior details of the 2023 Kia Seltos facelift are still under the wraps, it’s likely to receive a new steering and switchgear, revised connected car tech and updated touchscreen infotainment system.

In order to meet the upcoming CAFÉ and updated BS6 emission standards, the new Seltos might be offered with mild hybrid technology. If it happens, the SUV will become more frugal and greener than the existing model. Here, The updated model will come with the same 114bhp, 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 114bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel and 138bhp, 1.4L turbo petrol engine options.
