Kia Motors India has managed to sell 10,845 units of the Seltos in August, 2020, registering a growth of 28%. It’s the highest ever sales figures recorded by the compact SUV since February, 2020. The South Korean carmaker sold around 98,000 units of the Seltos and over 3,600 units of the Carnival luxury MPV so far. Kia recently achieved 1 lakh cumulative sales milestone in just 11 months of its arrival in the country. At present, it has two models in its Indian product lineup – Kia Seltos and Kia Carnival.
In June 2020, the Kia Seltos received an update with 10 new features including emergency stop signal, smart-key remote engine start, front and rear USB charging slots and more. While the AI voice command system is now available with new ‘Hello Kia’ wake up command, the UVO connected car system supports smart watch app and controls air purifier. The GTK and GTX DCT variants have also been discontinued from the model lineup.
Recently, the US-spec Seltos received top safety rating at the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests. While the model performs so well in most of the areas, its headlamps visibility rated as poor. Unlike the India-spec model, the US version comes equipped with the optional front crash prevention system. Currently, the Seltos petrol variants are available in the price range of Rs 9.89 lakh – Rs 17.29 lakh. The diesel models are priced from Rs 10.34 lakh to Rs 17.34 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
The South Korean carmaker is also working on electric iteration of the Seltos. Though, there is no official confirmation on its India launch. The Seltos EV will be offered with two battery packs – 39.2kWh with 136bhp electric motor and 64kWh with a 204bhp electric motor. While the former will deliver an ARAI-certified range of 452km, the latter one will offer around 400km on a single charge.
