Skoda Enyaq iV Unveiled – 5 Key Features Explained

The Czech carmaker has finally unveiled its first electric SUV – Skoda Enyaq iV. Its name said to be derived from the Irish word “enya” that means source of life. While the initial letter ‘E’ symbolizes electromobility, the ‘Q’ letter signifies the brand’s SUVs. Here’re five key features of Skoda’s all-new electric SUV.

1. First Skoda Based On VW’s MEB Platform

The Enyaq iV is Skoda’s first production model to be based on Volkswagen Group’s MEB (Modular Electric Drive Matrix) platform. The architecture is claimed to offer more space for e-mobility and future vehicles along with reduced cost of electric cars’ development. 2. Multiple Batteries and Range

The Skoda Enyaq iV SUV comes with three battery packs – 55kWH, 62kWh and 82kWh – and five different power variants. The entry-level 55kWh offers a range up to 340kms and a maximum torque of 220Nm. The 62kWh battery is capable to cover up to 390km and deliver 310Nm of torque. The 82kWh battery is available with two AWD (all-wheel-drive) variants offering 195kW and 225kW. Both models promise an electric range of 460km.

3. Advanced Safety System

 Skoda has equipped its first electric SUV with several sophisticated safety features including new assistance systems. It offers up to 9 airbags along ABS with EBD, proactive crew protect assist, LED Matrix headlamps, windscreen integrated camera and full LED taillamps. Its Collision Avoidance Assist automatically warns of collisions with objects, pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles and prevents accidents. The safety kit also includes turn assist, exit warning alerts, adaptive cruise control, parking sensors, adaptive lane assist and park assist. 4. Quality Interior

The carmaker says that it has replaced the classic trim levels with design selections offering “a tasteful interior with a high feel-good factor”. There will be multiple options for ambient lighting, floor mats and centre console. Some of its key features include a floating 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone Climatronic, Head-Up display, connected car technology, keyless start in the form of KESSY GO, a multifunction leather steering wheel, SmartLink technology and many more. The SUV’s select variants have seat upholstery made up of 40% wool and the rest with a blend of polyester from recycled PET bottles.

5. Aerodynamic Design

Skoda claims that the Skoda Enyaq iV has aerodynamic design ensuring greater efficiency and long ranges. It has a drag coefficient from 0.27 that improves a particularly low rolling resistance. The electric SUV comes with an optional heat pump for the AC unit that warms up the cold air flowing into the car and reduces battery power consumption. The SUV carries the brand’s signature Crystal face with illuminated radiator grille with 130 LEDs, Matrix LED headlamps and LED DRLs. Other design bits include sharp shoulder line, 21-inch alloy wheels, LED taillamps and a faux skid plate in the rear bumper.
