Is Royal Enfield Working on 350cc Interceptor Model?

Recently, a spy picture of the new Royal Enfield Interceptor motorcycle has been surfaced on the web. Unlike the existing 650cc model that has twin exhaust system, the spotted prototype features a single side-mounted exhaust unit. Speculations suggest that it could be the 350cc version of the Interceptor motorcycle. You can also notice the golden canister on the rear shock absorber. The rear fender and taillamp look exactly similar to the 650 RE Interceptor. The retro roadster has an upright riding stance.

RE 650 twins are the most powerful Royal Enfield bikes in India and features the brand’s first modern twin-cylinder engine. It derives power from a 648cc, air-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine boosted with fuel injection technology. The motor has been tuned for generating power worth 47bhp and 52Nm of torque. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-assist clutch.

In other updates, the company will roll out the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 with alloy wheels near around February 2021. Currently, the models with newly-designed cast alloys are under development, durability and validation testing phase.

The Chennai-based bikemaker is also working on a new 650cc, twin-cylinder premium cruiser that will be based on RE 650 twins’ platform. Some of its design elements could be borrowed from the Royal Enfield KX concept that broke cover at the 2019 EICMA Motor Show in Italy. While the RE KX features the 834cc engine, the new cruiser bike will come with a 650cc motor.

The latest spy pictures confirm that the upcoming RE 650 cruiser will has a low slung profile, circular headlamp, slender fuel tank and alloy wheels. Compared to the KX concept, the new model will have a longer seat and an USD fork front suspension unit instead of an unconventional girder type setup.
