Royal Enfield Interceptor, Continental GT 650 Soon Get Alloy Wheels

Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 will soon be available with alloy wheels (as an accessory) in the country. The motorcycles are, currently, offered with spoke wheels enhancing their retro look. As per a leaked document, the development, durability and validation testing of the newly-developed cast alloys for 650 twins are underway. The RE Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 are likely to receive new alloy wheels near around February, 2021.

In March 2020, the RE 650 twins made available with BS6-compliant 648cc, parallel-twin, air/oil cooled engine boosted with fuel injection technology. The motor has been tuned for producing power worth 46.8bhp and 52Nm of torque. The power output is slightly lower than its BS4 model. Both bikes have a 6-speed gearbox.

The suspension system of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 includes telescopic front fork and twin gas charged rear shock absorbers units. Stopping power comes from the 320mm front and 240mm rear disc brakes. The RE 650 twins get dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system) as standard fitment.

In other news, the Chennai-based bikemaker is also working on a new 650cc cruiser motorcycle that will share its underpinning with the RE Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. Recently, a test mule of the model was caught on camera during its test rounds. The spy pictures reveal that the bike will have a low slung profile with retro-styled elements such as circular headlamp, slender fuel tank and alloy wheels.

Some of its design bits will be similar to the Royal Enfield KX Concept that broke cover at the 2019 EICMA Motor Show in Milan. Though, the new RE 650 cruiser will have a longer seat and an USD fork front suspension. Besides the platform, the new cruiser motorcycle will share its engine with the RE 650 twins.
