India’s 4 Popular SUVs/MPV To Get ADAS Safety Tech

Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) is the latest safety technology, which is getting popular among car buyers in India. The safety suite was initially available only on the top-end cars, but now car manufacturers are offering it across their new product lineup. In fact, some of the existing popular SUVs and MPV are reported to receive the ADAS tech in coming months. Let’s take a close look at the models (facelifts) that will soon come with ADAS suite.

Tata Nexon Facelift

While there is no official information on the upcoming 2023 Tata Nexon facelift, the model is reported to come with ADAS. It will become the brand’s third model to get this feature. The ADAS functionality is already offered only on the Harrier and Safari XZA+ (O) trim. It packs in features such as lane change assist, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition and forward collision alert. The updated Nexon will also be offered with a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, new purple seat upholstery, a digital driver display and paddle shifters. A few noticeable changes will also be visible on the exterior. The subcompact SUV will also get a new 1.2L turbo petrol engine making 125bhp and 225Nm along with the existing 1.5L diesel engine. Kia Seltos facelift is reported to go on sale in mid 2023 (in July or August). The latest spy images confirm that the SUV will come with a panoramic sunroof. Inside, it will get dual 10.25-inch displays (one for the instrument cluster and one for the infotainment system) along with a rotary drive selector (for the automatic variant). On the exterior, the 2023 Kia Seltos facelift will feature a new grille, revised headlamps with LED DRLs, newly-designed alloy wheels, redesigned tailgate with bigger licence plate and new taillamps. Under the hood, the SUV will continue to house the existing 115bhp, 1.5L petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines. The updated Kia Carens is reported to arrive in September 2023. The MPV could be packed with the ADAS tech offering features such as blind spot collision avoidance assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, forward collision avoidance system, high beam assist, lane following assist and more. Minimal changes are expected to be made inside the cabin. The 2023 Kia Carens facelift is expected to come with an updated instrument cluster, a new infotainment system and a panoramic sunroof. Hyundai Motor India is reported to launch the updated Creta SUV in early 2024. With the mid-life update, the SUV will receive ADAS tech that will offer safety features such as autonomous emergency braking with forward collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitor, etc. There will also be a 360 degree camera and updated BlueLink connected car tech with stolen vehicle tracking, stolen vehicle immobilisation and a valet parking mode. The new Creta will share some of its design elements with the new-generation Verna. Engine setup will include a 160bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol, a 1.5L petrol and a 1.5L diesel motor. More details here…
