Launched in 2017, the Tata Nexon is currently the top-selling SUV on sale in our market. The SUV is available with a wide range of engine-gearbox options including petrol, diesel and electric. Adding to it, the 5-star global NCAP rating contributed hugely in its popularity among car buyers in India. The SUV is now 6 years old and is set to receive its most comprehensive update since its launch. Scheduled to be launched during festive season, the new Tata Nexon has been spotted numerous times on the Indian roads.
The latest spy images reveal that the new Nexon will come with Tata’s latest design philosophy that debuted on the Curvv SUV Concept. The new test mule also reveals the new design for the alloy wheels. The new alloy wheel design has a star-like pattern with aerodynamic inserts on each star. The star like pattern appears production ready, while the rest is expected to be changed in the final model. The outgoing model has fan-like pattern for the alloys. This pattern could be offered in wheel cap for the lower-spec versions.
The spy images reveal that the new Tata Nexon will retain the overal coupe-like styling; however, it will have newly designed front and rear profile. The front has twin-part grille with diamond-shaped inserts in the lower half, full-width LED light bar connecting both headlamps and flatter nose. At the back, the new Nexon SUV will have new tail-lamps with a connected light bar. It could also get dynamic turn signals, and new rear bumper.
Not just styling, the new Nexon cabin will share similarities with the Curvv SUV Coupe. The SUV will have new dashboard and new central console layout. Moreover, the SUV will have a new two-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel with toggle switches with touch-sensitive haptic buttons, new purple upholstery for the seats, and new touch panel & toggle switches for the HVAC control.
It will get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, connected car tech, a digital instrument console, a drive mode selector, a 360 degree camera, wireless charger and others.
It is likely to be powered by an all-new 1.2L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo. This engine produces 125PS and 225Nm of torque. The diesel version gets the same 115bhp, 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo unit. If media reports are to be believed, the new SUV could also receive a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
