India’s 3 Top-Selling MPVs in September 2022

September 2022 was a fruitful month for the carmakers in India. The sales of UVs (Utility Vehicles) continued to record positive YoY growth, with Brezza and Ertiga leading the charts in the SUV and MPV segments respectively. Talking about India’s top-selling MPVs, the Maruti Ertiga retained the top spot with total sales of 9,299 units. However, the MPV witnessed a sales decline of 18 percent when compared to September 2021.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor managed to sell 7,282 units of the Innova Crysta against 4,724 units of the same month previous year. Kia’s newly-launched Carens has been generating volume for the automaker in the country. In September 2022, the South Korean automaker retailed 5233 units of the Carens. Maruti Ertiga

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga received a mid-life update earlier this year. The model gets a new 1.5L Dualjet engine boosted with start-stop technology. The motor pushes out a peak power of 103bhp and 36Nm of torque. Transmission duties are done by a 5-speed manual and a new 6-speed automatic unit with paddleshifters. The Ertiga is claimed to deliver an impressive mileage of 20.51kmpl with the manual and 20.30kmpl with the automatic gearbox. The MPV can also be had with the CNG fuel option. It offers power worth 87bhp and 121.5Nm of torque when run on CNG. With a 5-speed manual, the Ertiga CNG promises 26.11km/kg.

The Toyota Innova Crysta comes with the 166hp, 2.7-litre petrol and 150hp, 2.4-liter diesel engine options. Both motors can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Kia Carens

Kia Carens performance Review

Kia Carens is currently available with a 115hp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 140hp 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, and a 115hp 1.5-litre diesel engine. A 6-speed manual gearbox comes as standard with all three engines. The turbo-petrol and diesel variants are available with the automatic transmissions. Kia claims the Carens petrol and diesel deliver a claimed mileage of up to 16.5kpl and 21.5kpl respectively.
