Hyundai Motor Company has released the first teaser pictures of its upcoming 7-seater compact MPV – Hyundai Staria. The model will be designed especially for the South Asian markets. One must note that the carmaker recently trademarked the Staria nameplate in India as well.
While there is no official word on its India launch, the MPV will be first launched in Phillippines. It will make its world debut in coming months. Reports suggest that the Staria might be the new-generation Hyundai Starex, which is sold in several Asian markets.
The teaser pictures reveal the vehicle’s silhouette and a few details of its front and rear sections. The upcoming Hyundai Staria carries an intricate chrome mesh grille, square-shaped LED headlamps and a strip of LED DRL running across the front portion of the bonnet. The rear design appears more like a conventional MPV with vertical stretch along with the large LED taillamps. You can also notice large panoramic windows and lower side creases.
The interior image confirms that new Staria MPV will have dual-tone theme with light shade material. There will be captain seats for the middle row passengers. Hyundai’s upcoming 7-seater MPV will have a large touchscreen infotainment system, simply designed dashboard and vertically placed AC vents. As of now, details of the new Hyundai Staria are scanty. Though, it’s likely to be bigger than the Hyundai Starex that measures 5150mm in length, 1920mm in width and 1935mm in height with a wheelbase of 3200mm.
As mentioned above, the South Korean carmaker is planning a compact MPV for the Indian market. If launched, it will be placed against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Mahindra Marazzo and the upcoming Kia compact MPV. Reports suggest that the upcoming Hyundai MPV will share its platform with the Creta and come with 6 and 7-seats layouts.
