Hyundai aims to expand its Indian product portfolio with a range of new models including electric cars in the next 2-3 years. Though, the next big launch from the South Korean automaker is reported to be a compact MPV that will challenge dominance of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. While there is no official word on the same, speculations are on rife that it will be the Hyundai Stargazer.

The model has been designed and developed for the emerging markets and it’s rumoured to make its way to India in 2022. Here’re key details of the upcoming Hyundai compact MPV we know so far.

The spy images reveal that the Hyundai Stargazer will carry the conventional people mover design with tear-drop silhouette. Some of its design elements could be borrowed from the Hyundai Staria MPV that comes as a replacement to the Starex in select global markets. It has split headlamp design with high-mounted LED DRLs and a differently designed grille.

Interior of the upcoming new Hyundai MPV are still a mystery to us. Though, it’s reported to come with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) offering features such as lane changing assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, autonomous emergency braking system and more. The model is likely to come with 6 and 7-seats configurations and measure around 4.5 meters in length. That means, it will be longer than the Hyundai Creta.

Globally, the upcoming Hyundai Stargazer could be offered with the 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engine options. While the gasoline unit makes 113bhp with 145Nm, the oil burner delivers 113bhp with 250Nm. If it comes to India, the model might get the turbo diesel motor with manual and CVT automatic gearbox options.
