Hyundai has recently launched the Alcazar 7-seater SUV, which has been receiving positive response from the Indian buyers. The Korean company is working on a new MPV, which is rumoured to be called the Hyundai Stargazer. It has already been caught testing in Korea as well as in Indonesia.
A new Korean media report claims that the Hyundai Motor is planning to launch the Stargazer MPV in the Indian market. However, Hyundai is yet to make an official announcement on the same. The new model is claimed to be the spiritual success of the Traje MPV, which was on sale in select international markets. The Hyundai Stargazer is reportedly designed and developed for the Southeast Asia. It is reportedly to be launched in our market in early next year.
The report claims that the Hyundai Stargazer will be produced at the Hyundai’s production facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This facility will also act as an export hub to several markets. The Stargazer has recently been caught testing in Indonesia. It is expected that the Indonesia-spec model will be produced and exported from Hyundai’s Chennai based plant.
The new model is reportedly to measure around 4.5 meters in length, making it longer than the Creta. We believe that the new model could sit on Alcazar’s wheelbase that is 2,760mm, around 150mm more than that of the Creta. Hyundai Alcazar also measures 4.5 meters in length. It is expected to be positioned between the Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta, in terms of proposition.
The new Hyundai Stargazer is expected to be offered with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options. While the former is good for 113bhp and 145Nm of torque, the turbo-diesel engine produces 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options are likely to be on offer. The company could also add the 2.0L petrol engine that powers the Alcazar; however, it will increase the cost.
