Kia Carens Brochure Released- 5 Variants, 3 Engines, Key Features

Kia Motors is all set to launch its fourth product – the Kia Carens in India. Official bookings for the 3-row MPV will commence from January 14, 2021. Ahead of the official launch, Kia has released the brochure of the Carens MPV that reveals the engine options, variant-wise features and other details.

Kia Carens Engine Options

The brochure confirms that the Carens MPV will be offered with 3 engine options – a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol. This is the same engine line-up that is offered with the Seltos as well as Hyundai Creta.

The 1.5L NA petrol engine produces 113bhp and 144Nm of torque, while the turbo-diesel unit is good for 113bhp and 250Nm. The turbo unit churns out 138bhp and 250Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard. Other transmission options include a 7-speed DCT with 1.4L turbo petrol and a 6-speed torque convertor with 1.5L diesel.

The Carens MPV will be offered in 5 trim levels – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus. The premium & Prestige variants are offered with all 3 engine options. Rest of the trims are available with 1.4L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engine options.

The Kia Carens will be offered in 8 colour options – Imperial Blue, Moss Brown, Sparkling Silver, Intense Red, Glacier White Pearl, Clear White, Gravity Grey & Aurora Black Pearl.

The Premium variant is offered with dual-tone Black & Beige interiors with Indigo Accents. The Prestige & Prestige Plus trims gets Black & Beige interior, while the Luxury Plus and Luxury trims are offered in two tone Triton Navy & Beige Interiors.

Kia Carens Blue

In terms of proportions, the new Kia Carens is 4,540mm long, 1,800mm wide and 1,708mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,780mm. In fact, the Carens wheelbase is 30mm more than the Toyota Innova Crysta. It is offered in 6 and 7-seat options with former having captain seats in the second row. It has a ground clearance of 195mm, while the fuel tank capacity stands at 45-litres.

For safety and security, the SUV gets 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Downhill Brake Control, All-wheel disc brakes, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), ABS, Rear Parking Sensors, etc. The base variant comes with 15-inch steel wheels, while the higher-spec models get 16-inch dual-tone crystal cut alloys.

Key Features – a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with inbuilt navigation, Bose premium sound system with 8 speakers, smart pure air purifier with virus & bacteria protection, Connected car tech, 2nd row one-touch easy electric tumble seat, ventilated front seats, 4.2-inch digital MID, 64-colour Ambient lighting, smartphone wireless charger with cooling function and others.
