Hyundai Exter – Tata Punch Rival is finally HERE!

So, the long-awaited all-new Hyundai Exter micro SUV is finally here! The South Korean automaker has announced prices of the model, and and deliveries have begun. The Exter is available in seven trims: EX, EX (O), S, S (O), SX, SX (O) Connect, with the entry-level variant priced at Rs 6 lakh and the fully-loaded variant priced at Rs 9.32 lakh. Its rival, on the other hand, the Tata Punch is priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9.52 lakh. Please note that the prices mentioned are introductory, ex-showroom.

The Hyundai Exter micro SUV is available in a total of variants across the seven trims. The petrol-manual variants range in price from Rs 5,99,900 to Rs 9,31,990, while the CNG models are priced from Rs Rs 8,23,990. The AMT variants are offered at a starting price of Rs 7,96,980. In terms of features, the entry-level E and EX (O) trims lack certain elements such as an infotainment system, electric sunroof, paddle shifters, push-button start/stop, wireless phone charger, cruise control, tilt steering, automatic AC, rear AC vents, eco coating, rear power windows, front fast USB charger (C-type), cooled glove box, rear wiper & washer, and luggage lamp. However, they do come equipped with an 8-inch digital cluster with a color TFT MID (Multi-Information Display) and support for multiple regional UI languages.

The Exter micro SUV offers a range of features, including an 8-inch HD infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, BlueLink connectivity, ambient sounds of nature, Home-to-Car (H2C) with Alexa integration, OTA updates for maps and infotainment, leather-wrapped gear knob, leather seat upholstery, electric sunroof, wireless phone charger, motor-driven power steering, and more. It’s important to note that the availability of these features may vary depending on the trim level.

In terms of safety, the standard kit includes six airbags (driver, passenger, side, and curtain), ABS with EBD, central locking, speed-sensing auto door lock, impact-sensing auto door unlock, seat belt reminder, seat belt pretensioners & load limiters, immobilizer, burglar alarm, high-speed alert system, and emergency stop signal. Additional safety features such as electronic stability control, hill start assist control, vehicle stability management, parking assist, headlamp escort system, automatic headlamps, rear defogger, and Isofix child seat anchors are available on higher trims. The top-end SX (O) Connect trim offers exclusive safety features like a dashcam with dual cameras and an insider rear-view mirror.

The Hyundai Exter micro SUV has dimensions of 3815mm in length, 1710mm in width, and 1631mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2450mm. It has a fuel tank capacity of 37 liters for petrol and a 60-liter water equivalent for CNG. The Exter is available in nine exterior color options, including Ranger Khaki (new), Fiery Red, Starry Night, Cosmic Blue, Atlas White, Titan Grey, Ranger Khaki with Black Roof, Altas White with Black Roof and Cosmic Blue with Black Roof.

Hyundai Exter Engine

Powering the Exter micro SUV is a 1.2-liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine sourced from the Grand i10 NIOS and Aura. Paired with a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox, the petrol engine delivers a claimed power of 83PS at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. The Exter is also available with a factory-fitted CNG kit, which slightly reduces the power and torque figures to 69PS and 95.2Nm, respectively.
