2023 Tata Nexon – DCT, More Power, New Tech

The Tata Nexon has been a consistent winner in the sub-4 meter SUV segment in India since its launch in 2017. It has gained popularity for its compact and sporty design, efficiency, and competitive pricing. Currently in its first generation, the Nexon is set to receive its second major update in August 2023. Tata Motors has also planned a new-generation Nexon, which is expected to arrive in the next few years. However, before that, the subcompact SUV will undergo a mid-life update to enhance its modern tech and engine mechanism.

Recent spy images have confirmed that the updated Nexon will come equipped with a DCT (Dual-Clutch Transmission) gearbox, the same unit offered in the Altroz hatchback. Tata claims that its new DCT transmission offers improved shift quality with fewer moving parts. It is enhanced with shift-by-wire technology, ensuring a smooth and seamless driving experience.

Significant upgrades are expected in the interior of the 2023 Tata Nexon facelift. It will feature a new and larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an improved user interface. The unit will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Several elements will be borrowed from the Tata Curvv concept, including a new 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a new flat-bottom, two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo.

The front fascia of the Nexon facelift will undergo revisions, including a newly-designed grille with diamond-shaped inserts, updated headlamps, and a flatter nose. The subcompact SUV will have a more upright stance compared to the existing model. Other distinguishing features will include new alloy wheels, a tweaked bumper, revised taillamps with an LED light bar, and a redesigned tailgate.

In addition to the new DCT gearbox, the 2023 Tata Nexon facelift will be powered by a new 1.2L turbo petrol engine, producing 125bhp and 225Nm of torque. The existing 1.5L diesel engine will also be carried forward in the updated model lineup.
