Honda, the Japanese automaker will launch five new products in the Indian car market within two years. The company will introduce new Honda Jazz, new City, Brio based MPV (aka Honda Mobilio), Jazz based compact crossover and a sub-4 lakh compact car. We expect that out of these three products, Honda could unveil at least three products at the upcoming 2014 Indian Auto Expo. While new Jazz, Mobilio MPV, next-generation City will be premiered at the show, the two other vehicles will come in 2015. With these cars, Honda is all set to capture a major market share in India.
New Honda Jazz will be the first model to come to India, followed by City sedan and Brio based MPV. It is expected that the premium hatchback will come by early 2014, and the other two models- City and Mobilio will make their way to India by the mid of next year. However, the company’s main focus is on increasing its manufacturing capacity, as the new Rajasthan facility will begin production by next year.
We also learned that Honda bets on Jazz platform to further improve its market share in India, as out of these five products three are based on this platform. Moreover, all these cars will be made available in both diesel and petrol options. While the petrol model will get a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine, the diesel model will be powered by the same 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine.
