Honda E:Prototype SUV Inspired By New HR-V Unveiled

Honda has released the new e:prototype SUV at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show in China. This is an all-electric SUV designed for the Chinese market. The company has announced to introduce 10 Honda-brand electric vehicle models within 5 years. The mass-production model based on the Honda SUV e:prototype is scheduled to go on sale in spring 2022 as the symbolic first Honda-brand EV in China.

The new Honda e:prototype isn’t as sleek as the initial concept Honda, which was unveiled few months back. The company hasn’t reveal the details about the SUV; however, it is claimed to be the futuristic-looking EV that offers “dynamic yet smooth acceleration” and performance that “enables the driver to feel the ‘joy of driving’ in abundance.”

The new Honda E:Prototype will be equipped with the third-generation Honda Connect, which was introduced last month in China. The SUV will also get Honda’s omni-direction ADAS – the next generation advanced safety and driver assistive system which enables visitors to experience new technologies that contributes to the safety and comfort of everyday mobility.

The Honda Connect offers a number of advanced functions such as everyday connectivity, smartphone link and Over-The-Air updates based on voice-recognition interface. These features enable this model to provide its users with a fresh and fun-filled value of mobility.

In terms of styling, the new Honda e:prototype looks similar to the new HR-V. The front has a bold look with headlamps resembling “eyes” with distinctive U-shaped lighting signature and stretched upper light bar. The Honda badge is placed below the illuminated lights.

The lower apron accommodates the main air-intake along with angular sections on either side that has additional light strips. The side profile has black body cladding, retractable front door handles and sleek door handles. Similar to the new HR-V, the rear door handles are placed on the C-pillar.

The rear also shares design with the HR-V, as it features wraparound tailights that are connected via a light bar. The rear bumper has two light strips, similar to the front along with blue accents. The SUV gets a prominent tailgate spoiler and a black roof.
