2021 Honda HR-V (Honda Vezel) recently made its world debut in Japan. Featuring SUV-Coupe like design, the model will be first launched in the Japanese market. If reports are to be believed, the new HRV will also make its way to India towards the end of this year. Here, it will be positioned against the cars like Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
The upcoming Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun will also lock horns against it. The new Honda HRV has received comprehensive changes in terms of design, features and engine mechanism. Engine setup of the 2021 Honda HR-V includes a 1.5L petrol and Honda’s petrol hybrid e-HEV unit.
The hybrid powertrain includes a 1.5L petrol motor and two electric motors along with a lithium ion battery pack and a fixed gear transmission. While one of the electric motor produce electricity with the petrol engine, the other one supplies power to the wheels. The SUV comes with both FWD (front-wheel-drive) and AWD (all-wheel-drive) systems. It has three driving modes – Engine Drive, Electric Drive and Hybrid Drive. The 2021 Honda HRV promises fuel economy of 27.8kmpl and its hybrid version delivers a combined mileage of 4.1-litres/100km (24.39kmpl).
Step inside and a large infotainment system catches your attention. The unit supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The SUV also comes with wireless charging, Honda Connect, leather seats with ventilation, a panoramic sunroof, rear AC vents, a 7-inch TFT display, automatic climate control and remote boot opening. For the safety provision, the 2021 Honda HRV offers multiple airbags, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, lane hold assist, pedestrian detection and avoidance, traffic sign recognition, hill descent control, blind spot information and active cornering light along with Honda Sensing technology.
Significant changes have been made to its exterior as well. The 2021 Honda HR-V shares resemblance to the Honda SUV e-Concept that was previewed at the Beijing Motor Show last year. The dual-tone ORVMs with turn indicators, a sloping roofline, pronounced wheel arches with dual-tone machine cut alloys and side body cladding enhance its new side appearance. At the back, the new Honda HRV carries newly-designed LED taillamp and bumper.
Honda will offer the new HR-V in 6 monotone and 5 dual-tone colour schemes. The monotone shades include Premium Sunlight White, Sand Khaki Pearl, Premium Crystal Red, Platinum White Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl and Meteroid Gray. The dual-tone colour options are Midnight Blue with Silver roof, Black with Silver roof, Khaki Pearl with Black roof, Gray with Black roof and White and Black roof.
