Honda City Hybrid Bookings Open At Dealership Level

Honda City Hybrid is all set to make India debut on April 14, 2022. Ahead of its official unveiling, select dealers have started taking pre-orders for the sedan. While it’s prices will be announced in the month of May, the model is expected to cost around Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). The hybrid powertrain could be reserved for the range-topping trim. The City Hybrid will come with Honda’s i-MMD hybrid technology featuring two electric motors and a 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated Atkinson Cycle petrol engine.

The power and torque output of the petrol unit stand at 98bhp and 127Nm respectively. The electric motors work as an integrated starter generator (ISG) and offers power worth 109bhp and 253Nm. A single, fixed gear ratio delivers power to the front wheels. There could be three drive modes – running only on electric motors, running on petrol engine and running on a combination of both. Similar to the Thai-spec Honda City Hybrid, the India-spec version might offer fuel economy of over 27kmpl.

Compared to the regular model, the City Hybrid appears sportier with differently designed front and rear bumpers and black accents on front grille, ORVMs and bumpers. The sedan has all-black interior theme and offers Honda Sensing technology that includes lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, emergency braking, auto high beam assist, adaptive cruise control, front collision warning system and auto high beam.

In other updates, the Japanese automaker recently revealed the 2023 Honda HR-V SUV with significantly updated design and styling. Its interior details are yet to be revealed. The SUV’s new model shares its platform with the new Civic. The new HR-V is claimed to have “a more responsive engine and a new independent rear suspension”. Under the hood, the new Honda HR-V is likely to feature a 158bhp, 2.0L petrol or a 180bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol engine.
