Buoyed by excellent response for new Carens, Kia India is now planning to introduce more models in the Indian market. The company will soon introduce the Kia EV6 electric SUV as a CBU model. Moreover, Kia has started development working of an all-new entry-level electric SUV for the Indian as well as global markets.
Codenamed AY, the new entry-level electric SUV will be produced in India for domestic as well as global markets. The new model will be based on an all-new flexible Platform. This platform will also be used to develop a new mass market small petrol SUV for the Indian market.
We expect the new petrol SUV to arrive before the electric SUV, which is reportedly to be launched in 2025. It is expected to be positioned below the Sonet in Kia India’s line-up. The new entry-level SUV could be positioned against the Tata Punch. The small SUV is likely to get a 1.2L NA petrol or a 1.0L turbo petrol that powers the Grand i10 Nios. The company could also introduce the CNG version of the small SUV.

Kia EV6 – Kia will launch the EV6 pure electric SUV in the next few months. The new EV6 will come as a full-import in the Indian market. It is based on the e-GMP platform that underpins the Hyundai Ioniq 5. In the global markets, the electric crossover is offered in multiple configurations. It gets a 58kWh battery pack that is offered in two configurations – RWD with 170bhp single motor & AWD layout with dual-motor set-up that produces 235bhp. The top-spec model has a larger 77.4kWh battery pack that has a 229bhp single-motor in RWD guise, and 325bhp dual-motor in AWD guise. The higher-spec GT variant comes with dual-motor AWD layout producing 585bhp and 740Nm of torque.
Kia Seltos Facelift – The Korean automaker will also launch the facelifted version of the Seltos SUV, which has been caught testing in South Korea. The new model will come with design changes and upgraded cabin. The Seltos facelift will get a panoramic sunroof, an upgraded infotainment system and Advanced driver assist system (ADAS).
