Honda’s Creta Rival Coming In H1, 2023; Might Get City’s Hybrid Setup

Honda Cars India aims to tap the highly-competitive mid-size SUV segment with a new model that’s reported to hit roads in the first half of 2023. The model will be designed and developed to meet the market specific requirements. While its official details are still under the wraps, the upcoming new Honda compact SUV is likely to share its platform and features with the City sedan. A fresh report states that the automaker might use the City’s new hybrid powertrain for its upcoming SUV.

Honda’s e:HEV Hybrid System

The brand’s hybrid setup includes a 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated Atkinson Cycle petrol engine that’s coupled to two electric motors. The gasoline unit produces a peak power of 98bhp and 127Nm of torque, the electric motor promises 109bhp and 253Nm from 0rpm. One of the electric motor works as ISG (integrated starter generator) offering better mileage and reduces emissions. The other one works as a traction control connected to the wheels.
