Hero Electric Scooter Launch By March 2022 – Official

In August 2021, Hero MotoCorp teased its first upcoming electric scooter during the brand’s 10th anniversary celebration livestream. Painted in dual-tone White and Black shades, the model appears to be near production. Speaking to an online media publication, Niranjan Gupta, Hero MotoCorp CFO, has confirmed that the new Hero electric scooter will hit Indian roads by March 2022. Once launched, it will compete against multiple electric scooters including Ola S1 and S1 Pro, Simple One, Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak and more.

The teaser reveals that the new Hero electric scooter could be offered with 12-inch front and 10-inch rear wheels. Similar to the e-Chetak, the model features a single-sided swingarm. It has very neat design with curvy stance, flyscreen and a lengthy split seat. It’s likely to be an indigenous Hero product. The company has already confirmed that it’s working on several new products including an EV sharing battery technology with Gogoro.

Just so you know, the home-grown two-wheeler maker announced its partnership with the Taiwan-based Gogoro for developing EVs and charging network in India. Hero will use Gogoro’s battery swapping platform for its upcoming EVs. Currently, the Taiwanese brand has 2,000 battery swapping stations with over 174 million total battery swaps so far. For people not in the know, Hero MotoCorp is one of the lead investors in Ather Energy – the Bangaluru based EV start-up.

The home-grown two-wheeler manufacturer also aims to tap the premium motorcycle segment with Harley-Davidson. Under its new partnership, Hero and Harley-Davidson will co-develop middleweight bikes with engine capacity ranging from 500cc and above. These new motorcycles will be retailed under both brands. The upcoming premium Hero motorcycles are expected to be more affordable than the Harley bikes. The twin models will share chassis, engine, features and several mechanical components. Hero and Harley are also working on a retro-styled premium bike that will take on Royal Enfield.
