Hero MotoCorp is ready to enter into the electric scooter segment in coming months. Ahead of its official arrival, the first image of the first Hero electric scooter has been leaked on the web. The model, which was spotted inside the brand’s R&D facility in Jaipur, appears production ready. As of now, design details of the e-scooter are not available as the leaked image isn’t clear enough. Though, one can notice the scooter is painted in dual-tone While and Black shade and looks relatively bigger than the existing e-scooters in market. The new Hero electric scooter is likely to launch towards the end of 2021 or early 2022.
Recently, the home-grown two-wheeler manufacturer entered into a strategic partnership with Taiwan-based EV maker – Gogoro. Under this partnership, Hero MotoCorp will develop new technologies and products for the Indian market. It will also take advantage of Gogoro’s expertise in battery swapping technology. For people not in the know, Gogoro VIVA nameplate was recently trademarked in India. As of now, there is no clarity the first Hero electric scooter will be developed from scratch or sourced from Gogoro.
Talking about the Gogoro VIVA, the electric scooter is offered in two variants – keyless and basic – in select global markets. It’s a lightweight vehicle (weighs 80kgs only) featuring a 3kW electric motor that’s good for 115Nm of torque. It promises a range of 85km in a single charge. One can take out its battery pack and swap it whenever needed. The VIVA offers a seat height of 74cm and has a wheelbase of 10-inches. It provides a storage space of 21.6-litres.
The Gogoro VIVA electric scooter starts with a single touch via the iQ system Smart Keycard. It has Polypropylene body panels that said to be “super tough” and resistant to scuffs and scratches. Some of its key features include LED headlamp, fixed step bar, single colour LCD negative display with backlight, USB charging port, dynamic thermal management, dual hydraulic disc brakes, synchronized braking system and more.
