Ford EcoSport SE Variant Launch Next Week; No Tailgate Spare Tyre

A few weeks ago, we have reported that the Ford EcoSport will receive a new SE variant in the country. In fact, the model was caught on camera during its TVC shoot. According to a fresh media report, the new Ford EcoSport SE variant will hit showrooms in the second week of March, 2021. It will sit below the Titanium and Sport trims and is likely to be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options.

At present, the EcoSport is available with the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L diesel motors delivering power worth 121bhp with 149Nm and 99bhp with 215Nm respectively. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard across the SUV model lineup and a 6-speed automatic transmission is exclusively offered on the fully-loaded petrol variants.

Ford EcoSport Without Spare Wheel

One of the major highlights of the new Ford EcoSport SE variant will be its rear styling inspired by the SUV’s global-spec model. The upcoming variant will not have a tailgate mounted spare tyre. The newly-designed rear skid plate and tailgate featuring a license plate below a thick chrome garnish further mark distinction to its portfolio. The new model might also come with the TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system) and a puncture repair kit.

In other updates, Ford Motor Company and Mahindra & Mahindra recently called off their joint venture, which was announced in October 2019. Both carmakers had planned to develop several new vehicles under this partnership include the new Ford C-SUV and EcoSport turbo petrol. Now, Ford has halted all the projects planned under this joint venture and chalking a new strategy for the Indian market.

The American carmaker is also working on the new-generation Ford Endeavour that will arrive sometime next year. With the generation change, the SUV will receive a new off-road focused Wildtrack X variant. Globally, the 2022 Ford Endeavour will be offered in 6 trims (Ambiente, Trend, Trend Sport, Wildtrak X, Titanium and Platinum) and 2 and 4-wheel drive system.
