Ford India recently rejigged Figo, Aspire and Freestyle model lineup and increased their prices by up to Rs 19,000. Now, the company is planning to give an update to its highly popular Ford EcoSport subcompact SUV. According to a latest media report, the model will receive a new SE variant with updated rear tailgate design that will be inspired from its global-spec model. For people not in the know, Ford’s Chennai-based plant serves as a global and domestic production hub for the EcoSport.
The export version of the Ford EcoSport has differently designed rear section. The number plate has been placed at the centre of the tailgate and it doesn’t have a tailgate mounted spare wheel. Thar means, the upcoming new Ford EcoSport SE variant won’t have a factory-fitted spare wheel on the tailgate. Features like tubeless tyres and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) will also be on offer. The carmaker will provide a puncture repair kit with the new variant.
Similar to the regular model, the new Ford EcoSport SE variant will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines. While the petrol model uses a 1.5L naturally aspirated unit delivering 121bhp with 149Nm, the diesel variant comes with a 1.5L motor making 99bhp with 215Nm. In the SUV model lineup, the new Ford EcoSport SE will be placed below the Titanium and Sport trims. At presently, the compact SUV is available in the price range of Rs 7.99 lakh – Rs 11.49 lakh. While the petrol variants are priced from Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 11.19 lakh, the diesel models cost between Rs 8.69 lakh – Rs 9.99 lakh. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.
