At present, the Ford EcoSport model lineup comes in six trims – Ambiente, Trend, Titanium, Thunder Titanium+, and S. The Thunder trim was introduced as a special variant last year. Both petrol and diesel engines are on offer. The petrol variants use a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder motor delivering a claimed power of 120bhp and 149Nm of torque. The 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel unit is good enough for 99bhp and 215Nm of peak torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard across the variants. The petrol version has also been offered with an optional 6-speed automatic torque converter unit.
The Ford EcoSport is ready to enter into its new generation sometime next year. The all-new EcoSport will be developed under Ford-Mahindra joint venture. The model will witness significant design and feature upgrades along with a new petrol engine sourced from Mahindra. The 2021 Ford EcoSport will come with the 1.2L, 3-cylinder T-GDI turbo mStallion petrol motor that was previewed at this year’s Auto Expo.
Mahindra’s new petrol motor will deliver a maximum power of 130bhp against 230Nm of torque. All variants of the compact SUV might get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. A dual-clutch automatic transmission could be reserved for select variants.
