Engine Specs

The Mahindra XUV400 will be powered by the brand’s new G15 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. This direct-injection engine churns out 163bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. The new model will also receive a diesel engine, which is likely to be the 1.5L turbocharged unit. The exact launch timeline for the new Mahindra XUV400 is yet to be revealed; however, media reports suggest that the new SUV could be launched in the early 2022. Ford will also introduce a new mid-sized SUV in 2022.

For people not in the know, Mahindra Group acquired a controlling interest of 76% in the Italian design house – the Pininfarina. The new XUV400 will be designed by Mahindra design team in collaboration with Pininfarina. In fact, the new Ford SUVs (co-developed with Mahindra) will be designed by the renowned Italian car designing and engineering firm.

Could Receive a 7-Seater Version

It is reported that Mahindra will offer the new XUV400 in both 5 and 7-seat options. The 5-seater model will rival the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos, while the 7-seater model will be positioned against the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar (7-Seater Creta) and the Tata Gravitas. The new model will ride on longer wheelbase, which should help Mahindra to create more space inside the cabin.
