Ducati India Crosses 1000 Sales Milestone in 2016; Achieves 18% Growth

In 2016, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer has enjoyed healthy growth across its range in India.

The Indian arm of the Italian bikemaker, Ducati India ended the 2016 on a positive note by registering a total sales of 1000 bikes in the country. The company has recorded 18% growth over the previous year thus increasing its market share from 6.4% to 7.7% in the high-end motorcycle segment. While the Ducati Multistrada is the major sales contributor with 89% segment share, the Diavel Drak and Carbon account 17% of the total sales.

Similarly, the Ducati Scrambler and Monster recorded 38% and 19% growth, respectively, over the previous year. The Ducati Superbike 959 Panigale scored an impressive 12% of total sales even when its deliveries began in July 2016. These figures show that the Italian bikemaker has enjoyed healthy growth across its range.

In 2016, Ducati not only expanded its product lineup and dealerships network in India, but delivered 580 motorcycles as well. The existing Ducati lineup spreads across four categories – Diavel, Hypermotard, Monster, Multistrada and Superbike. With an aim to grow the brand in India, the company will spread out its network to five dealerships including Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Pune. It also plans to introduce five new models by the end of this year.

Commenting on the achievement, Ravi Avalur, Managing Director of Ducati India said: “Our growth has confirmed Ducati’s ability to excite the Indian market. In 2017 we will have a robust network of ten dealerships across the country.The Ducatisti community is also growing with three Desmo Owners Clubs operational and two more in the pipeline. We’re looking forward to a great 2017 for Ducati.”
