The French automaker, Citroen is ready to introduce its second offering in the Indian market on 20th July 2022. Called the Citroen C3, the premium hatchback will be offered in two trims – Live and Feel – packed with the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine. The motor can be had with either the mild or strong hybrid technology. Official bookings for the C3 will begin from 1st July and it will be retailed across 19 cities in the country.
Citroen will further expand its Indian product portfolio with an electric car that’s confirmed for 2023. It will be the electric version of the upcoming Citroen C3 hatchback based on the heavily localized CMP platform. The architecture is compatible to different body styles and powertrains. The new Citroen electric car will take on the Tata Punch EV, which is currently under development. The carmaker has also confirmed that it will bring in its fourth product in India sometime next year. While the company hasn’t yet revealed the details of the upcoming model, it’s likely to be a compact SUV for an MPV.
Citroen Berlingo MPV has been caught testing in the country multiple times. If India is on its launch radar, the model will be placed against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Kia Carens. In global markets, the Berlingo is available in Standard and XL sizes measuring 4400mm and 4750mm in length. The latter one has 7-seats configuration with bench type seats for the second and third row. It’s designed on a new platform, which is combination of the Berlingo’s old platform and PSA’s new EMP2 architecture.
For power, the Citroen Berlingo uses a 1.5L diesel and 1.2L petrol engine making 101bhp and 108bhp respectively. It’s spotted test mule was equipped with the diesel powertrain. The MPV has boxy stance with the brand’s signature grille, split headlamp setup, wide airdam, fog lamp assembly with white inserts and black cladding on the front and rear bumpers.
