BYD Yuan Up Compact SUV Leaks – Creta EV, EVX & Curvv Rival

Chinese automaker, BYD is one of the fastest growing electric car manufacturers globally. The brand is challenging the dominance of Tesla in many parts of the World. While BYD has already entered the Indian passenger vehicle market, the American EV maker is ready to enter in our market sometime in early next year. A new electric vehicle from BYD has recently been revealed in China. This 4.3 meters long SUV, called the BYD Yuan Up, is scheduled to make public debut sometime in the first half of 2024.

BYD Yuan Up is a 5-seater electric SUV, which has dimensions similar to the upcoming EVs including the Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti Suzuki EVX and the Tata Curvv SUV Coupe. In terms of proportions, the Yuan Up electric SUV is 4310mm in length, 1830mm in width and 1675mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2620mm.

The BYD Yuan Up 5-seater electric SUV will be offered with two powertrain options – a 70kW motor and a 130kW motor. The electric motor is made by Hefei BYD Automobile Co., while the LFP Blade battery is manufactured by Wuwei Findream Co. The BYD Yuan Up with 70kW motor and 130kW motor weighs 1430kg and 1540kg respectively. The electric SUV is claimed to have a top speed of 160kmph.

The electric SUV’s front and rear-end styling seems identical to the recently revealed mid-sized Song L, but it has a boxier silhouette. The electric SUV has an optional panoramic sunroof and a sportier spoiler in the rear. The SUV will be offered with 16-inch and 17-inch wheels wrapped in 215/65 R16 and 215/60 R17 section tyres, respectively.

BYD Yuan Up electric SUV specs

The BYD Yuan Up is positioned below the Atto 3 (Known as Yuan Plus in China), which is already on sale in the Indian market. It is expected to be launched at a starting price of Rs 100,000 Yuan (approximately Rs 11.72 lakh). Going by the rising demand for electric SUVs, we expect that BYD could bring this product in our market. In India, the SUV could rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra BE.05, Maruti Suzuki eVX and the Tata Curvv EV.
