Tata Curvv Petrol SUV Launch After Harrier EV – More Details

Tata Motors has officially confirmed the upcoming launch of the Curvv EV in early 2024. While the exact launch date remains undisclosed, a recent media report suggests that the electric SUV will commence series production by April, with sales expected to commence in May or June 2024. The indigenous automaker also plans to introduce an internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the Curvv, positioned to rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, although this will happen at a later stage. Notably, the Tata Curvv petrol SUV is slated to hit showrooms following the market debut of the Tata Harrier EV.

Tata Motors has set an ambitious target of selling around 48,000 units of the Tata Curvv SUV annually. This figure includes approximately 12,000 units of the electric version and 36,000 units of the ICE-powered variants. The production hub for the Curvv will be Tata’s Ranjangaon facility in Pune, which is the same plant responsible for manufacturing the Nexon subcompact SUV.

Tata Curvv Launch Date

While detailed specifications are yet to be disclosed, Tata Motors has hinted that its upcoming electric cars, based on the Gen 1 and Gen 2 platforms, will offer high-range capabilities, exceeding 500km on a single charge. The Tata Curvv EV will be built on the brand’s Gen 2 architecture, supporting various body styles and powertrains. On the other hand, the ICE-powered version will mark the debut of Tata’s new 1.2L T-GDi petrol engine, generating 125PS and 225Nm of torque. This gasoline unit will be paired with a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) gearbox.

In terms of features, the Tata Curvv is expected to be well-equipped, aligning with Tata’s latest vehicles. Anticipated features include a 10.25-inch driver’s display, a 12.3-inch infotainment system with advanced smartphone connectivity, a new steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, front and rear parking sensors, and a safety package comprising six airbags along with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology.
